Curtis Sliwa Denies the Net Worth Estimates

When Curtis Sliwa was asked in an interview if the $500,000 estimate was accurate, he replied that he had nothing. He made a point of mentioning that he was living in a 328-square-foot apartment.

He also said that if he were to die in this state, he’d end up buried in a “cardboard box” in an unknown persons’ burial field.

If his claims are to be believed, then things got so bad for him that he had to borrow money from his father just to pay for his divorce from his third wife, Mary Paterson.

Where did this net worth estimate come from, then?

Well, according to the Guardian Angels’ founder, these estimates are based on his peak WABC salary, and they don’t account for his taxes and expenses.

He told the press that between child support and lawyer fees (for child support claims), about 80% of his income goes to cover his expenses.

Salary and Main Source of Income

Sliwa’s main revenue stream is his radio career, which he began by working for New York City’s WABC-AM.

It’s not clear how much Sliwa earns from his radio career, but we do know his salary has fluctuated over the years.

At his peak, Sliwa’s salary was somewhere between $680,000 and $700,000.

 Then, he said the pay had dropped significantly in December 2012. Some sources claim he was earning $120,000, while others report that the number was closer to $200,000.

By 2014, his ex-wife’s attorney told the courts that Sliwa’s salary had jumped back to $400,000. That was around the time when the Guardian Angels’ founder had returned to his usual 77 WABC gig.

Child Support Controversies

When Curtis Sliwa got divorced from Mary Paterson, he had agreed to pay $140,000 or so a year on child support.

However, Paterson says that, from 2015 to 2023, Sliwa refused to pay the full amount. So, when she took him to court in 2023, she was suing for over $530,000 in underpaid child support. She also complained that she had to pawn her jewelry just to cover the bills.

In 2013, Sliwa wanted to chop down the monthly payments from $13,000 to $2,500. His lawyers said the drop was fair, considering that his salary was slashed at the time.

Curtis Sliwa’s Net Worth vs. Ron Kuby

For about eight years, Sliwa co-hosted the daily radio show “Curtis and Kuby” alongside the criminal defense lawyer Ronald L. Kuby. The two also did a short-lived midday TV gig on MSNBC.

Ron Kuby then went on to broadcast on Air America before reuniting with the anti-crime activist for a second go at “Curtis and Kuby.”

So, it’s obvious Kuby and Sliwa are long-time radio partners. But how does their wealth compare today? Well, Kuby’s net worth is reportedly much higher. Think $5 million!

Curtis Sliwa’s Net Worth vs. John Gotti Jr.

Back in 1992, the radio host claimed that he was kidnapped and shot at. John Gotti Jr., the son of the Gambino crime family boss, was charged with the kidnapping. However, he was never convicted.

The two did cross paths more than once since then, and they managed to hold cordial conversations. But I believe the bad blood is still lingering there.

Financially, Gotti Jr. is in a much better place, though. He’s said to be worth around $10 million!
